From the textile industry to Le repos Saint-François d’Assise
I worked for several years in the textile industry and then in the pulp and paper industry. I held management positions and found myself working in an office, stuck at a desk.
So when the director of Le repos Saint-François d’Assise contacted me to ask if I’d be interested in the position of operations foreman, I said yes right away!
A unique working environment
Being able to work outside every day is quite a change for me. The grounds are so beautiful, I can hear the birds singing, it’s soothing. Even though we have a lot to do in a day, it’s nice to be here and watch the passing of the seasons.
The days are busy, but they’re never the same
There’s no routine here. As foreman, I have to plan my team’s days carefully so that everyone is in the right place at the right time. We have to make sure that everything is perfect on the 9-million-square-foot site. It’s not easy!
I have several employees on my team including gravediggers, labourers, and equipment operators to run the bulldozers, 6-wheelers, seeders, lawn tractors and hydro seeders.
Giving meaning to your work
At Le repos Saint-François d’Assise, we’re always tracking new developments in the funeral industry to meet the needs of families. That’s what makes the difference.
The working conditions and atmosphere also play a big part to ensure we can enjoy a high quality of life.
