2. What does a typical workday look like for you?
I start the day by answering emails and following up with customers. Then I receive customers in my office and listen to their needs.
Most of them aren’t familiar with all our services. Whether it’s for funeral prearrangements or a death, I take the time to advise people and suggest products that suit their wishes and budget.
3. What qualities do you need for your job?
In addition to being a good listener, you need to be patient and empathetic. People who are grieving are going through a lot of emotions. It’s essential not to rush them, and to put yourself in their shoes.
4. What gives meaning to your work?
When a bereaved person arrives at Le repos Saint-François, I always try to make them smile, if only for a moment. It’s important for me to try to lighten the load of what may seem like a burden for the other person, and perhaps help them through their period of grief. That’s one of the reasons why I decided to enter the funeral business over 9 years ago.
5. What motivates you to continue working for the organization?
Le repos Saint-François d’Assise is growing all the time. There are new projects coming up, and that makes me want to get involved. I also enjoy attending funeral industry events with my colleagues. It’s an opportunity to meet other professionals in the field and to continue learning new things.
