Hello Everyone,
We’re delighted to welcome you to our Sunday afternoon musical event.
It’s with great pleasure that we welcome Piano Caméléons for a program entitle “Bach, Beethoven et autres délices.” Today’s concert will be a feast for the senses—the ears, of course, but also the eyes.
Piano Caméléons is the meeting of virtuosos Matt Herskowitz and John Roney. They take a fresh look at well-known masterpieces.
Drawing on the great classical repertoire, these musicians breathe new life into these masterpieces, embellishing them with improvisations worthy of the greatest jazz pianists.
From the first chord to the last, they sometimes play in harmony, and other times in opposition, surprising each other constantly.
They can dazzle audiences with their shared technical virtuosity, but most of the time, however, they’ll wow them with their incredible musicality.
Toronto-born pianist John Roney lives in Montréal, where he shares his time between composing, teaching, and performing jazz on the international scene. As a composer and pianist, both in jazz and classical music, his versatility demonstrates a mastery of an astonishing number of skills and a great artistic sensitivity.
Originally from Albany, New York, Matt Herskowitz has been living in Montréal since 1999. This multi-talented artist brings a unique and personal touch to each of the musical styles he introduces us to. He has performed all over the world, including at New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall, the Montréal International Jazz Festival, and several European festivals.
Pianists, virtuosos, concert performers, improvisers, composers and arrangers—John Roney and Matt Herskowitz have it all!
According to renowned pianist and project sponsor Oliver Jones, “Piano Caméléons have found a particular style of their own that’s both remarkable and new. They bridge the gap between classical and jazz. The future is in good hands.”
