Hello Everyone,
Thank you for joining us for this Sunday afternoon musical event.
Exciting, intoxicating, and inviting, the melodies of tango bewitch, seduce and mesmerize us.
Two wonderful musicians—Catherine Chabot and Sebastián Verdugo—will transport us to this languorous, sad, sensual, and sexy universe.
Young Montréal flutist Catherine Chabot fell in love with her instrument when she was nine years old. She obtained her bachelor’s degree at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, then continued her studies in Chicago to earn a master’s degree.
Renowned for her expressive, sensitive playing, Catherine has appeared on many international stages in orchestras, as a chamber musician, and as a soloist. Since 2019, she has held the position of principal flute with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
Chilean-born pianist Sebastián Verdugo, who holds a doctorate in performance from the Université de Montréal, was awarded the most prestigious scholarship granted by the Chilean government for his master’s and doctoral studies.
He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Chile, Canada, the United States, and France. He is also interested in popular music, particularly that of Latin America. He has performed with bandoneonist Néstor Vaz at the Théâtre Maisonneuve and at Place des Arts’ Cinquième Salle in an Argentine tango program. He performs regularly with various musicians on the lively Montréal music scene. He is also a teacher.
Without further ado … let’s tango!
