Hello Everyone,
We’re delighted to welcome you to our last musical event of 2020.
For this final event of the series, we thought we’d end on a comical note.
Laughter has a countless number of benefits. Leading researchers believe it’s as good as a physical workout! For our part, we’re thinking of giving up gym workouts and morning walks to become comedy fans. And today we’re welcoming one of our favourites!
Christopher Hall is first and foremost a classically trained clarinetist for whom orchestral work was far too serious! Rather than distract his fellow musicians, he decided to plunge into comedy. He has become a well-known Quebec comedian and commentator and oddly enough, his career is mostly in French.
Christopher has worked extensively in television and radio host and has taken part in several editions of the Just for Laughs festival and in numerous comedy shows in both official languages. At the 2010 Grand Rire de Québec, he had the honour of hosting Whoopi Goldberg’s show.
Since 2008, he has been combining his two passions: classical music and comedy. At last, he can make musicians laugh without getting into trouble!
Having performed his Orchestre comique concert with some of Canada’s most renowned symphony orchestras, he continues to tour the country with a scaled-down version for string quartet.
Accompanied by his wonderful musical accomplices, comedian/clarinetist Christopher Hall performs beautiful music, all while making us laugh … from time to time!
The Andara Quartet is composed of Marie-Claire Vaillancourt, violin, Jeanne Côté, violin, Vincent Delorme, viola, and Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy, cello.
In “Sur une note humoristique,” Christopher Hall and his quartet present works by Mozart, Brahms, and Weber, with a few other surprises thrown in.
One last word of advice before we give the floor to the musicians… Whatever you do, please don’t take this man seriously! Enjoy the concert!
