Hello everyone and welcome to our Sunday afternoon musical events. Thank you for joining us in this virtual format week after week.
What if our lives were simply missing a touch of poetry?
How sweet it would be to let ourselves be lulled by its beautiful words and melodies that make us feel so alive.
What if love took roots? I’d plant it in my garden, and sow it in every corner.
For the next hour, I invite you to push open the gate and follow us into a garden of beautiful music and poetry. Leading the way are three wonderful artists: talented singer Simon Beaudry, virtuoso pianist Philippe Prud’homme and incredible multidisciplinary artist Béatrice Picard. Today, they will perform an intimate recital of French-language poetry and songs from traditional and contemporary repertoires.
Inspired by an approach based on the blending of musical genres, the trio offers a wide selection of folk songs with piano arrangements by classical composers. The three performers also revisit songs and poems by Quebec and French songwriters.
Simon Beaudry has been spreading Quebecois traditional music on several continents with his group Le Vent du Nord since 2004. Pianist Philippe Prud’homme is one of the great musicians of his generation, having won seven first prizes at the Canadian Music Competition, and our theatre virtuoso Béatrice Picard has stopped counting the awards and distinctions she has received in the course of her prolific career. Having these three artists, each a standout in their field, performing together is a unique, must-see event.
We hope that this journey into the soul of poets and musicians inspires your deepest emotions. And what if love took root…
